Nawiliwili Kauai Cruise Port

Nawiliwili Harbor is located on the southeast coast of Kauai, about 1.5 miles southeast of Lihue.  It is the island's main harbor and its only cruise port.

Public Transportation

Port Shuttle

A free shuttle runs from the Nawiliwili pier to the Anchor shopping mall, Walmart and car rental offices in nearby Lihue.

Alternatively, one can walk to the Lihue city centre in about 45 minutes.  The route to town is approximately 2 miles (3 km) and involves a walk up a moderately steep hill.

Bus Service

There is limited bus service on the island.  The bus stop is located outside the port gates on route to Kalapaki Beach.  Bus routes and schedules are available online.

In general, the bus runs every 30 minutes.

Visitor Information

Nawiliwili

Kalapaki Beach is located about 1/2 mile from the dock and is easy to access on foot.  It is home to a few shops including an ABC Store.  Other shops can be found at the nearby Kauai Marriott Hotel.  The Harbor Mall is 1/2 mile away.

The Kalapaki Beach is conveniently located near the cruise port.  It is a sandy beach situated in a sheltered cove.

Lihue Kauai

Lihue is the nearest community to the cruise port.  It is home to several shopping centers, the island's main airport, restaurants, a museum and golf course.

Shopping centers in Lihue include a Costco and a Walmart.

Kauai Island

There is much to see on Kauai including Waimea Canyon, Kokee State Park, the fern grotto, Poipu Beach and the Old Koloa Town.  Car rental offices are available near the port.

Popular activities on the island include helicopter, snorkeling, hiking and zipline adventures.

Weather on Kauai Hawaii

The Island of Kauai has tropical weather and a stable pattern.  Winter temperatures are in the high 70s while summer is in the mid 80s.

Kauai is sometimes called the 'Garden Island', thanks in part to the large amount of rain it receives.

Nawiliwili receives some 50 inches of rain per year while Mount Waialeale on Kauai is one of the rainiest spots on earth!

Free Wi-Fi Service

Free Wi-Fi is not available at the cruise terminal at Nawiliwili Harbor.

Free Wi-Fi access is, however, available at McDonald's Restaurant, Starbucks, Kauai High School, the public library and Walmart in Lihue Kauai.  It is also available at Kauai's Lihue Airport.
