Guide to Cruise Ports and Terminals
The Port of Hilo is situated on the east coast of Hawaii's Big Island. It is very near the Hilo International Airport and approximately 2 miles (3 km) from the Hilo Town Center.
The walk to town takes 50 minutes, however, much of the route is through an industrial district.
Keaukaha Beach Park is located just east of the cruise port.
Some cruise lines offer a free shuttle service between the cruise terminal and Hilo.
The County Mass Transit bus (Hele-On Bus) picks up passengers just outside the bus terminal on Kalanianaole Street.
The "Keaukaha" bus will drop passengers off at the Keaukaha Market in downtown Hilo.
The cost of a ticket is $1 and free for seniors. Buses depart hourly starting at 7:50. They then return hourly starting at 1:25 PM. There are no buses on Sundays.
There is also a "Hattie Bus" that shuttles cruise passengers to Hattie's Shopping Centre.
Taxi service to downtown Hilo costs $12 to $16.

Due to the enormous mountains and volcanos on the Big Island, the temperature and precipitation amounts vary tremendously across the island. The weather is Hilo, however, is warm throughout the year.

There is no Wi-Fi service available at the Port of Hilo in Hawaii.
Free Wi-Fi access is available, however, at the McDonald's Restaurant and the Public Library in Hilo Hawaii.
