Ponta Delgada is the largest city in the Azores, an archipelago of nine beautiful islands located in the Atlantic Ocean. The city is located 1,450 km east of Lisbon and 4,136 km west of New York. It is home to over 67,000 people.
Many transatlantic cruises include Ponta Delgada as a port-of-call in their itineraries.
The Ponta Delgada Cruise Port is located at Portas do Mar, next to the picturesque marina. It is called Terminal Maritimo. Cruise passengers can walk to town from the port.
Tendering is occasionally required.
The town center is a ten minute walk from the cruise port. A port shuttle is not needed.
The Hop-on Hop-off Bus (Yellow bus) departs from São Brás Fort (near the port) and has two main routes:
A 24 hour ticket costs approximately 22 euro for both lines.
A mini-bus system also operates in and around Ponta Delgada.
A car rental office is located right at the port.
